Looking for real world numbers for load development with 230s in 300 RUM at ~3.92 COAL with Retumbo. With supplies scarce I don't want to waste supplies starting too low. 10th manual has max load with 225gr at 89gr of Retumbo at 3.6 COAL. Am I crazy to start at 87gr by adding .32 to length? This is a rem 700 set up for single shot and bolt removal for unloading loaded round. Going out of a 32" Brux 1:10". Using R&P Brass.

Thanks for any advice. If including and personal data please include COAL so that if you are shooting 230 atip or 230 berger with more than 87gr retumbo I can compare COAL to get accurate case capacity comparison.

I can only provide theoretical numbers. QL shows 87 grains will run a bit over 54,000 psi with your set up. Max pressure is reached at 91.7 grains.

I have a 338 RUM necked down to 30. So a little less volume. (109). It's loaded with a 230 Berger at 3.920. 89.5 H1000 is accuracy. Retumbo is usually another grain. 26" barrel has mine at 3050 and very accurate

I have some berger 245s I'd like to test too. I'm following the 245gr RUM thread but if anyone has data for those with retumbo I'd like to see it. Thanks
