    Weatherby...your feelings

didnt know only your opinion mattered, 22 years behind said remingtons trusting my life to them, Im a little biased, ive carried them, jumped with one into the panama invasion, took one to the gulf war, IFOR, Somalia, and other places. So If its alright with you, Im not "hanging" mine on the wall!

    subsistence or sport?

I grew up poor , raised by coal miners in southern pa. We also farmed, so if didnt come off the farm or out of the woods, you bartered for it. But that was real living. Now, I guess mostly for sport, or tradition really.

    Best deer and elk cartridge

I agree with winmag, belted 30s, or 338.

    Best Long Range Setup

VERY intrigued with this 6.5 also, my latest toy is a 6.5-06 AI. I sure cant get 3400 out of it with 140s, around 3000 from what ive researched. This one is a standard hunter weight .

    Weatherby...your feelings

First, you cant fix stupid. I have really no experience with weatherby rifles, me owning a weatherby is like putting a screen door on a outhouse, it dont fit. Just too flashy, now the cartridges, thats a different story, I have two 700s that are in weatherby chamberings, a 7mm and a 340. Love...

    Help! Urgently Need Caliber Advice!

gotta agree with lrtr, the 280 AI, not as many mods, more money for brass and bullets. My nephew has a stevens 200 in 308, its his first rifle and it really is a smooth well made rifle. The man and not the rifle is the more important part of the equation. you can spend thousands on the weapon...

I feel compelled to comment on the Remington Arms legal action

Agreed, my brother had his 700 fire , it removed a rather large chunk of meat from his right thumb,( the safety removed it when it went off). The trigger was messed with by a self proclaimed "gunsmith". Its a machine, and like any machine if its improperly adjusted, its gonna malfunction. He...

Best caliber for long range in a short action.

I have read that the 260 rem is supposed to be excellent for long range work. High B.C.s, good barrel life.

    A one rifle life

honestly winmag, I really figured it would turn one dog into two, the "375 elephant rifle", it just made a guarter size hole. I actually was a little dumbfounded, it sounded like a bag of soup when I picked him up.

    A one rifle life

I would take my rem 700 spsdg in 375 h and h mag, on deer, you can eat up to the hole. would kinda make a mess of squirrels , but I did take a coyote with it. Dead right there, its extremely accurate with 250 sierra game kings.

7mm Terminal Performance Issues? True or False?

I have used the 7mm in the guise of the 280 remington for years. I actually just got another one, a remington 700 xcr II. I use 160-165s, everything Ive shot has been a flop, bang. I cant say anyone is wrong, I can only comment on my own personal experience. When it was matched to the animal...
