    Toughest Long Range Hunting Optic?

My only heavy duty optic is a Steiner Military 3x12 that lives in a 1 piece euro optic mount. The thing is rock solid. You can feel the quality difference between consumer optics and ones that were at designed to compete for contracts. I would put it in the same league as S&B, Nightforce and the...

Is it legal to just shoot on public land in south dakota?

Yes it is. When I lived up there I used to go out on the Buffalo Gap Nat'l Grasslands east of Oelrichs and shoot all the time. The two tracks out there are mainly bentonite and other types of clay so try not to get caught out there in a rain. Basically don't litter, shoot the cattle or start...

Sightron 3X9X40 with Tac Turrets- reviews?

I've got one of the 3x9 waiting in a box at home. Got a deal on it, glass seems clear for the price. Just waiting for a new toy to put it on. Thinking one of the little savage .22 tacticals, or maybe a ruger american in .300 blackout would be fun to dial.

    KC area?

Thanks. That's more along the lines of what I'm looking for, but it is pretty spendy. Maybe a Christmas present to myself. I just relocated back to the area after a decade in western south dakota. I had forgotten how hard it is to find a place to shoot or get away from crowds in general is...

    KC area?

Anyone know of a good range withing an hour or two of the KC metro? I know of the range by Parkville, but i think it is mostly hand gun and short range. Would like to be able to get out at least few hundred yards. Any info is appreciated.

    New sightron reticle

I just saw this the other day. Looks like a good choice if you like to hold over. It would be nice if they put that in the FFP model. Sightron Riflescopes SIII Series SIIISS624X50LRMOA-H Also a new SV model with locking turrets!

    sightron sIII zero stop fix?

I used the plastic ring that the cap of a 2 liter bottle is attached to. It fits right over the turret and is easy to sand down if you need to make it thinner

    Long range target

Old railroad tie plates work pretty well if you aren't looking to spend much. They will dent and ding but I've never seen a pass through outside of 400 yards. Hit them with a little krylon when you get home and they are ready to go next trip. The ones we find are 8"x14" so if you weld two...

    Savage pre-fit 243 AI

Hey Folks, I hope everyone had a great Christmas. Now that the holidays are over I am getting back on my .243 project. I have a savage that I am about ready to rebarrel. I have already bought a B&C target/varmint stock and a good one piece picatinny rail. I have the accutrigger dialed...

    Shooter App for Iphone

I've been using Mid-Dot Ballistics for the Iphone for a few years now and have found it to work pretty well for me.

what are your opinions of the dednutz game reaper mounts?

I put one on my Sako A7. It is light, solid and seems very well designed. My only gripe is that they don't list a 20 moa base. Unfortunately for me there isn't enough demand for them to have the CNC program set up already. I talked to one of the managers about having one cut with 20 minutes...

    Best spotting scope under 500

I picked up a 1970's vintage bushnell spacemaster from a local gunshop for $125 dollars. It came with a fairly good tabletop tripod. It has the green crinkle paint interchangeable eyepieces and I believe it has a magnesium body. It is pretty amazing glass for the $$$ spent. There are usually...

Just bought a 204, need opinions for it and my 223

I have a Remington VLS in 223. It has a 1-12 twist so the heavy bullets are out for me. I have had excellent luck with Fiocchi 40 gr and 50 gr vmax loads. They seem to be very consistent with their quality control, and pretty inexpensive. It also shoots the Black Hills 60 gr vmax's pretty...
