Bull barrels have lesser harmonic vibrations. A shorter barrel does too, because it is stiffer; but for long range hunting, a longer barrel gives you the much needed velocity.
I don't hunt game animals at long range at all. Here in Ohio, just this year, we are allowed to use straight-walled cartridges in rifles to hunt deer. So for me it isn't practical.
I do shoot at running deer as we hunt driven deer often. Here is my set-up for practicing on moving targets...
Ridiculous!
If you knew I and others were referring to what is commonly known as a ladder test, you would have stated "3 separate ladders" instead of "a small ladder;" then kept the confusion going for 3 more comments.
I just know to ignore you from now on.
That is exactly what I am saying!
But instead of sending rounds downrange indiscriminately, you send them as a specific aiming point.
You're killing 2 birds with one stone.
When I develop a load, I run a ladder test; and as I do so, I check for overpressure signs.
Finding overpressure should never be your goal. My goal is to find one or more precision nodes before overpressure signs manifest.
