Haha yes the mountains are our ranges, we range find using topographical maps and a compass, Longer range for me is going past my current set up that reaches 1500 yards, want to have a play out to 2500 now, The ALS looks nice but will have to check on the import status for those, but know I can...

    50 BMG choice

Hi everyone, Just need some help with a decision on a rifle purchase, looking at a 50 for longer range work and am looking at the Noreen ULR or a ZEL Custom T1 upper, this one will just be for some fun rock plinking nothing real serious, over here in New Zealand we don't just have these sitting...

    Stripped out sling stud

This has happened to me before, I pulled the stud out with pliers and filled it with left over acraglass, any epoxy would be fine though, wait till it dries then predrill it smaller than stud screw and screw it back in, if it's loose now it's only a matter of time before it will pop right out...

    Rifle export to New Zealand

Hi Steve, I had a 6.5x55 Ackley built on a barnard S action and I am very happy with it. It was built by Tony Halberg and John Hastie, these guys are very good smiths. this rifle consistently shoots around the .300'' mark at 100 yards. The Barnard S action with the magazine would be a good...

    First Blood With New Rig..

Thanks, Tony Halberg and John Hastie built the rifle and the muzzle brake is made by them aswell, it is similar to a vais. The Accubond is doing 3050fps. I have also tried GS Custom HV bullets and I got the 95gr bullet doing over 3700fps! but accuracy was not near as good.

    First Blood With New Rig..

My new rifle is finally finished after a long wait for the parts, but im out shooting it now and it has been very accurate. Its printing .275'' groups at 100 yards (5 shots) and i just shot a 3 shot 6.5" group at 1500 yards. Specs: 6.5x55 Ackley Improved .294 Neck Barnard model S single shot...

    break-in

I would soak the barrel overnight with a copper cutter and scrub the bore so there is no visible trace of copper. Then take it to a smith with a borescope and check for any machining burs. You may find it has already been broken in with those 40 rounds providing there hasnt been to much copper...

    Enough power?

12 power would be ample for those ranges. I use a 9 power on my .222 for rabbits and that works fine out to 400 yards. Good scope choice to, Kahles are very good optics.
