There aren't many gobblers in Australia but folks around here us 410 for ducks and geese successfully. Keep your shot with in 20 meters/yards and you should be fine.
Here in Australia the flys are worse than In any other place in the world and you get to learn a few tricks to avoid them.

Very true but the most of the elk in NZ are hybrids of red deer and elk making them on average 60% smaller then the elk you guys get America and Europe. I'm sure there just as fun to hunt though.:D
New Zealand is a beautiful country, and a few people I know have compared it to the remote...
I like tusker broad heads. There very popular here in Australia and there designed to take down wild boar and Australian water buffalo, however they all so make a few small game heads for rabbits. All of there heads are of a traditional two blade design and made in Australia.
There is no such thing as an accurate bow. The bow just stores the energy to launch the arrow, accuracy is all down to the shooter. However some bows are more forgiving to shoot and Easier to shoot accurately.

IMO toxic and similar broad heads fill in a specialised roll in small game hunting and should not be used on big game. Btw they are impossible to sharpen.

I'm interested in making an economical target to.
I was thinking that if I could get my hands on that "self healing" foam they use on 3D targets I could put something together.
Anyone else got any other ideas?

Anyone here shoot or hunt with a longbow or recurve?
If so what do you hunt and at what distance? I'm curious about the long range hunting ability of traditional equipment as it's somewhat harder to master long range shooting than with a compound set up with sights.
Thanks, James:cool:
