From the research I've done on the Athlon it looks like they are all made in china. The model I looked at was similar to a Vortex Viper HS-T. It was only about $70 less than viper but did have an illuminated reticle. The Vipers are made in Phillipines. Atholon can probably afford to offer life...
thanks for replies. I didn't think about the brushy terrain, this is my first trip to Colorado so not sure what it's going to look like. I'll have a tripod with me also so that may help also if I need to get a little higher.
I use a 13" - 23" bipod for antelope hunting in Wyoming, going to Colorado this year for elk. I was thinking of putting a shorter bipod on my rifle or maybe not use a bipod at all, just pack. what do most of you use for hunting elk?
Well, that's the first thing I tried was to get the pack for that frame but it looks like Cabelas no longer sells the pack separate. You can buy the frame separate or the pack frame combo. So I was looking at other brand packs to retrofit to that frame or buy a internal frame pack to hunt with ...
I've got an Alaskan frame and am doing first elk hunt in Colorado this year. Was looking into a pack to attach to it. Or get a new internal frame pack combo?? Don't have a fortune to spend right now and since this my first time trying this type of hunt, I can't decide which route to go. thanks...
Thanks for responses. It's plenty hot and humid here. Planning on working out on elliptical, stairs and walking with pack. I'll look into meds and aspirin makes sense.
Doing an OTC Colorado hunt this year. Going with a friend that went a few years back. During the second season it sounds like the elk will still be in higher elevations depending on weather of course. My question is: Is there anything we could do to adjust or be prepared for altitude? The guy...
I have a Monarch 3 on one rifle and like it a lot but I recently bought 2 Vortex scopes that are a whole lot better. Vortex Viper HS-T 6x24x50 is super sweet on a Savage 10T 6.5 Creedmoor and the Viper HS 4x16x44 I put on a 7 mag. Picked out 2 does at dark 30 @ 50 yards or so that I could not...
I got a Savage 10 T at cabelas back in August, put a vortex viper HST on it. Like it a lot but it's heavy. Been thinking about something lighter in the creedmoor.
my 7 mag likes the 150 fusions also. hates every factory round I've tried less than 150grs. Tried a few of the hornady 162 eld-x but mirage was real bad that day so I need to shoot again.
Been looking at northern Idaho. beautiful country, the lakes and rivers are a plus. The close proximity to California/ west coast would be a negative. One thing I am noticeing in some of the western states is the cost of land/housing seems high, I expected lower costs in rural areas than I'm...
I think you may want the " radical ideology" guys back from what I've been reading about the Twin Falls area. I don't think that stuff would have happened in the 80's and 90's.
