    Let's talk day packs

I'll take a look at them. Would I be better off looking at hiking packs from companies like Osprey or Kelty?

    Let's talk day packs

I've been researching day packs for a few weeks now. Plan on using one on a trip to Montana this fall. I don't need anything crazy on this particular trip, but I would like something that I'll also be able to take on one night/two day backpacking trips. I've been looking at the Tenzing 2220...

    Savage Model 11 Bolt Release

Yes. I took the action out and manually moved the lever. The bolt comes right out. I can't see what's going on in there, but I'm guessing it has to do with a bolt not being torqued right. I'll have to put it all back together when I get home and see.

    Savage Model 11 Bolt Release

I did everything that you're supposed to. I have my dad's savage to compare to and nothing is different. His bolt slides right out and mine won't release. I'm guessing that the bolt release button is somehow barely missing the lever. I guess it's not a known defect.

    Savage Model 11 Bolt Release

I just picked up a new Savage Model 11 FCNS in 308. Yesterday I went to adjust the trigger and mount a scope. I figured I would take the bolt out while doing this, and for the life of me, I could not get it to release. I double checked my Dad's model 16 and it came right out. I took the stock...

Best scope in the $500 range

I'm hoping they go on sale at Cabelas soon. I have a few gift cards to use. I just need to figure out if I want the MOA or MRAD reticle.

Best scope in the $500 range

I just got a new Savage model 11 chambered in 308 that will primarily be used for hunting, but I also plan on learning on how to shoot longer range with it. I would like to get out to 800-1000 yards for practice. Right now my budget for a scope is $500ish. I'm heavily leaning towards the...

Let's build a sub moa rifle for deer size game that will help others save miney

Some guys touched on it toward the beginning of this thread, but what scopes would you recommend for a build like this? Let's say in the $300-$500 range. Is there anything that cheap that would be worth it?

    Accustock vs Non-accustock

I've researched this some on the internet and have seen mixed reviews. Here is my dilemna: I'm looking at two guns right now. A Savage 11 FCNS and a savage 11 Trophy Hunter XP. The FCNS has an accustock and the Trophy Hunter does not. The Trophy Hunter also comes with a cheap Nikon scope...

    Gunsmith Recommendation in SE PA

I've seen Kevin Cram's name on here before. Does he still do general gunsmithing? Looking at his website it looks like he only does full rifle builds, barrels, and muzzle brakes.

Need help ID'ing a Rifle with FN Action

I didn't realize that Leupold would go over their old scopes for free. That one definitely has a lot of years on it and it has been used. I may have to send it back to them just to check for me.

Need help ID'ing a Rifle with FN Action

Not a problem. I hope you find an answer to your rifle too. Looks like a nice gun!

Need help ID'ing a Rifle with FN Action

Will do. I definitely don't plan on cutting it up. I want to keep it as it is. I just want to make it shoot as good as I think it can. Do you guys have any idea on the value of a gun like this? Not even sure where to start with when talking to my dad.

Let's build a sub moa rifle for deer size game that will help others save miney

We'll see how addicted I get. I feel like I can't go wrong with those options, but some options may be more right than others. I'm planning on getting it in 308 and practice, practice, practice.

Let's build a sub moa rifle for deer size game that will help others save miney

This thread is exactly what I was looking for. I'm torn between a Tikka T3, Weatherby Vanguard S2, Savage 16 or LRH or Remington 700. From what I've read on here most guys just recommend going with some sort of Savage. But like J E Custom said, it might be best to go for a 700. I really like...
