    Comparison of Long Range Cartridges?

Bill is that you from over on the 65G site? Nice to see a fellow ARF outcast on the LR page! I'm curt243 over there. Anyway, I have a 338 RUM XCR 700, I bought it to be a light weight mountain rifle with plenty of power to spare for Brown bear/Elk, and LR steel plate plinking I may have...

338 RUM is a tack driver and a forehead killer!

Good thing for me the Zeiss 3-9 has a rubberized rear eye piece Like I said before the rearward recoil isn't whats getting me so much as the muzzle jump. I think I might send it off to get magnaported. Can someone tell me if magnaporting will be as loud as a brake? REM: While I weigh in a...

338 RUM is a tack driver and a forehead killer!

I'm useing a Zeiss 3-9x40 now and if my memory serves me I think that it is a 4" eye relief scope. Its not so much the rearward recoil thats getting me I thinks its the jump of the muzzle.

338 RUM is a tack driver and a forehead killer!

Ok I've found the sweet spot for my Rem 700 338 RUM with the 300g SMK's at least, but I'm having some trouble. The 225g and 250g bullets work well, but when I step up to the 300g bullets I can't keep the scope off my head. I built the rifle to be a light mountain rifle and it tips the scales...

Thanks guys for the info, I too remember the very excellent post Kirby made and spent a considerable amount of time trying to search for it and couldn't find it either. I've milled the inside of the stock out with my end mill for the proper clearences and I have the inletting bolts on order...

    Rem 700 Bedding question......need help

I bought a new Rem 700 XCR in 338 RUM a few weeks back, I didn't like the factory stock, it quite possibly might be the worst POC I've ever seen. And I really didn't like it after I shot the rifle, accuracy was horable and the recoil was quite severe. I didn't want to put a break on the rifle...

338 RUM Mag box too short

338 RUM Mag box too short

Is there a way to lengthen the Mag box on the Rem 700 LA? As it is the bullets have to be seated DEEP in the neck to fit, and no hope of getting even close to the lands. Thanks

    Reloading the 270 Ackley Improved

I should clarify my question, to reload for the 270AI do I need a Bullet seating die specifically for the 270AI or will a standard 270Win bullet seating die (which I already have) Work? What about the Redding and RCBS dies that are made for the 270AI are they anygood? Thanks again

    Reloading the 270 Ackley Improved

I have some basic questions on reloading tools for the 270 Ackley Improved. Can you use your regular 270 Win Bullet seater out of a FL die set to seat the bullets on a 270AI? Also what brand of dies are the best to use for the 270AI. Thanks guys!

Min barrel length for 270 AI???

Specifically on the barrel really don't know, the accuacy can be affected by many different factors, but putting that aside the rifle currently shoots about 1.25-1.5" groups at 100. Of course being a pre 64 Winchester it is not free floating (it has the bolt half way down the forearm through the...
