How does one find an elk hunting group. It seems like most are lone hunters (which even though i've been hunting for 10 + years am not comfortable with nor do i have the knowledge to do so) or already have a full group.
Well i have it narrowed down to a 270 or 6.5 cm probably gonna be a savage 111 or 116 due to the rebuildability of those actions
Leaning abit tword the 6.5 cm. I know its a shot placement issue but reliabilty on elk is my last hang up
So is it real or fake. Heard countless stories of 270s picking up deer and throwing them but physics wise this doeant make semse too me. Just wondering for cartridge selection.
Mudrunner
So my only issue with the 308 is it weighs like 12 lbs empty which is a strong negative when hunting my rocky terrain. That and the short barrel (20 in) makes me want to keep it for shorter ranges in kinder terrain
So here is my situation. I plan on getting a new gun for deer and elk. What i have currently is a sig 556, a savage chambered in 308 and a savage in 300wm i love the 300 wm but dont like the saucer sized chunks it takes out. The 308 was in the shop. I would like a round thats good for 200-700...
