Rebarrelling Weatherby Mark V (Requiring larger bolt face)

I am planning on rebarrelling my Weatherby Accumark in 300 WBY to something chambered in .338 . I have 338 Lapua, 338-378, and 338 Terminator, or 338 Terminator +P in mind. Here is what I have brainstormed.... I understand that I have to increase the size of my bolt face to ~.585" and I...

    300 Weatherby question

Yes 26”’Mark V (Terramark). Pushing a 215 beyond 2950FPS shouldn’t be an issue with a 1-10” twist. I shoot mine out to 1,300 yards without issues.

    300 Weatherby question

88.4 with a COAL of 3.710” gave me ~3050. Again, I ran it hotter and it was accurate , but tough on brass. Please note its a bulky powder. A drop tube may be necessary. Also, pay attention to your brass. If you are truly chasing velocity of 3100FPS I suspect it won’t be too hard on brass...

    300 Weatherby question

I’ve switched to N570 in my 300 WBY (26” barrel). I shoot 215 Berger Hyrbids. During load development I had 2 excellent nodes the lower achieved a velocity of 3050FPS and the upper was 3125 FPS. Both were extremely accurate and each had a SD under 5. I settled on the lower because it is easy on...

    Weird Error In Ballistic Calculation

WiscGunner, Thank you for your response, here is the data you requested: It's a Weatherby Mark V (Japanese Made) with a round count of ~350. The action is bedded including the first 2" of the barrel with pillars installed as well. The barrel is 26" long with a 1-10" twist. I normally use...

    Weird Error In Ballistic Calculation

Muleystalker, I shoot directly over the dry dam and the dry dam is roughly 105 yards wide. If you look at my drawing, The dry dam begins @ 250 yards and the steep opposing hillside begins @ 355 yards.

Need Advice - 7mm Weatherby Magnum

I was able to get out this weekend and shoot. I had a 10mph crosswind and was very impressed with the way the 160gr accubonds handled the wind. I shot at ranges of 435, 575, 700 and 835 yards. All groups were very well and within my accepted level of accuracy with a 1980's Mark V with a factory...

That makes some sense because it was the morning (8am) and the thermals were rising.

    Weird Error In Ballistic Calculation

I thought the same until I shot the same target with my .300 and my friend shot it with his .338 Lapua and the dope was perfect according to the data.
