Exceedingly Bummed-Out

Well maybe yeah but you're talking having a sub moa load go completely to 💩 over a 30 fps difference? There's got to me a lot more to it than that. Absolutely I believe temp and velocity fluctuations affect things….I've personally never seen anything close to this, not even close at all! To go from 1/2inch to 1 inch groups at 100 to having a hard time staying on an 11x17" target at 300….

It is unbelievable ! Maybe I shouldn't close my eyes when I jerk the trigger! 😉😁 memtb

I have never seen a 1/2 moa load from a good rifle @100 yards go to 2+ moa @ 300…enough to miss an 11x17" target.

If your ammo is consistent enough for 1/2 moa @100, it shouldn't be the ammo problem at 300.

NOT enough temp differential to throw it that far out of whack either.

If your load and rifle combo is TRULY 1/2 moa… there is definitely another issue causing your problem.

My opinion:
1) Shooter technique and ability
2) Scope and/or rings
3) Stock bedding or barrel contact issue

Good luck with scouting!

So I dealt with this same issue last night for a fellow. His groups started flying all over tarnation so he got mad and brought me his gun. I ordered new rings, base and added my test scope. One whole group again so I am guessing scope.

Did he mention what scope? It sounds like a vortex
I don't want to be a brand brasher. That being said. Friends don't let friends buy Vortex.
I love mine. No trouble. Some friends don't presently have funds for the best stuff money can buy and i for one am thankful that savage rifles, vortex scopes, and Lee precision reloading equipment exist so that the peasants like me can still do the things I want to do even on a budget. They're not as nice I know, nor do they claim to be…but they're still all capable of greater performance than I am.

I mean that's true for literally anything anyone owns…reminds me of back in college working at a fast food joint…my boss was always so annoyed about the food inspector going over his operation with a fine toothed comb.

"No one has died because they ate here!" He protested.

"Yet". Says the food inspector. 🤣

Of course I'm all ears about better options AT COMPETITIVE price points, but find comparing vortex with nightforce or Schmidt and bender or that sort of price point product to be nonsense. That's like finding fault with a Honda civic for not being as capable as a corvette or something.

So, and im being totally sincere here, at equal
Or similar price points to vortex optics, what does it better? Or is this just the same general Kind of snobbery that corvette drivers might look down on Honda civic owners with?

Again, sincere question, I've had good luck with vortex but if there's a competitor aimed at the same market that's superior quality with equivalent price and warranty/customer support I'd love to hear who it is and what your experience was.

My biggest gripe with my vortex is admittedly the clarity in low light. I have a friend with some of the significantly more expensive scopes and honestly in broad daylight I was questioning what made them worth that much more. But at dusk, well let's just say it became obvious.

I do have a couple of Vortex scopes. Well, three. Two of which I got for free. A Razor AMG and a Razor 1-6. The third is a Razor HD LH that I rarely use. I think the Razor scopes especially the AMG is in a different class from the other Vortex scopes.
