6.5 haters

All the 6.5 haters and 6.5 Creedmoor haters are the same ones that wear a apron when they BBQ while drinking their Boone's Farm Strawberry hill.

I took issue with the creed early on as it was being compared to the 308 win often.

The best, most efficient bullets in 6.5 were being compared to the 1980s technology in the 308. Of course it worked out better. Compare apples to apples, as in the best with the best...they are similar. Buuuut the 6.5 shoots so much easier for me. I have been watching lots of youtube videos with people shooting the 6.5 creedmoor with the intent of watching the animals reaction. Bottom line shoot anything in the vitals and they will probably die. How soon and in this county are important to me. Wide open spaces where you can watch them fall or in dense tree stand type woods, where and how far are a consideration for me.

That said, I have a Savage 6.5 creed I am trying to sell in the classifieds. I don't have a manbun, but would sell it to you if you do:p

I was thinking of joining the dark side and getting a Creed (it is pride month, after all)- I'd be interested in yours, but there's a Savage 110 Magpul Hunter at my Bass Pro for just $725 and I don't value that carbon barrel for +$700.

Being 75 I have watch a lot of cartridge come out over the years. I would read up on them. Not much improvement if any. Different name is about all. I love the comparisons. My Mag is faster than your's. Get done reading about them and doing a fair comparison. Barrel were generally longer, and different powders bein used. That was about it. The Magnum cartridges have made some big imporvements. The real imporvement has been in componments for the cartridges. Powder, Primers, Bullets and Brass have step up. Some of the PRC cartridges are interesting too. I don't have one but looking that them.

Disclaimer: I don't own a Creedmoor.

The '6.5 Creedmoor hype bro' is a straw man. I've been scouring the internet for nearly a decade attempting to find this guy so that I can demean and belittle him for his false beliefs and exaggeration of what it's capable of.
Despite all my efforts, all I've found are rational, level headed shooters that value the cartridge on its merits. And in the meantime come across hundreds (maybe thousands) of guys obsessed with hating on Creedmoor. Most seem to be .3sl0w8 acolytes who are insecure and concerned that their precious foothold on short action supremacy is being eroded and displaced by a more modern chambering that's actually purpose built.
I agree with this, I see way more Creedmoor Derangement Syndrome sufferers than people exaggerating the 6.5cm's capabilities.

The 6 and 6.5 Creedmoors both are great target rounds as looking at PRS competition. First time shooting 1000yards I easily hit the target over and over again. Had a lot of throat erosion in the 6 after putting 100 rounds down range that day and the 6.5 did just as well. Took the 6.5x47 out to 1 mile at Black Bear shooting complex and will now retire the barrel. Yet to try hunting with either but as far as long distance plinking goes they all do well. I use the 30-30, 30.06, 25.06, and 6.5x284 for the hunting duties and don't forget the muzzle loader. Waiting on a .243 AI barrel to add to the hunting duties.
What did you put in there that eroded the throat so fast? These are supposed to be 1k-1.5k round barrels under standard conditions.

Probably because it was in less than a 4 hour time period. Measured BTO and was a huge difference, about .021. Won't do that again. Was using the 115gr DTACs and now trying the 101Gr hammers. Showing promise so far. Just need some range time.

I will say I have no need for the creed but think it's been a great thing honestly and it's not going to fade away, ever. It hits a sweet spot of extreme low recoil, high bc bullets of sufficient mass for general hunting as well, and there is something about that case geometry that lends itself to easy accuracy and it's very efficient - not that it's unique, there are many other cartridges in that size range that do about the same thing but this is the one that caught on BECAUSE IT WAS EXECUTED PROPERLY THE FIRST TIME (in regards to twist rates, OAL and mag lengths, etc…) AND MARKETED WELL, AND FULLY SUPPORTED BY ITS CREATOR COMPANY FROM DAY ONE. It doesn't do anything the .260 rem or 6.5x47 or 6,5x55 can't. But it has far superior support and options available that make it a no brainer for most anyone after a cartridge of this power range - and so much more is the case for the many people out there that don't handload.

I suspect this group is biased against it a bit more than the general shooting community not only because we're a long range hunting group that has more use for significantly more powerful cartridges, and not only because many people on here are "old guys" who are still in love with belted magnums (this younger guy likes his too haha), but because the overwhelming majority of us are hand loaders. If you roll your own there's a lot less appeal to the 6.5 creed: or rather, most if not all of the disadvantages to it's less supported competitors melt away, and it's just one option and not necessarily the best one.
