12GA Rounds for Grizz?

Wish someone would make a meme like this for the 460S&W. It's no slouch.
Probably the baddest of them all IMO. Just too much for Hand held protection. At least for me when I can put many more 230 grain hardcast 10mm bullets on target 4 times as fast and very accurately. Everyone has their fav pistol. For me, it's the G20 w/20 round mags. Semi custom with a BarSto barrel. Less than 2" groups at 50 yards off a bench. Wish I could do it without the bench but ain't happening. Just shows the pistols accuracy. Having 100% confidence is as much a having enough gun.

Both is my understanding in defense against bears. I have done some reading on the use of shotgun, and that seem to be the way to go. I know of a hunter for Pheasant up in N. Montana used a shotgun to defend himself. I had noted a lot of birds in that area. I was told that were 11 Grz in the 11 mile there. Guess what? Me with my 28 gauge didn't go there. It was the third shot that put the bear down. I would guess you wouldn't need a plug in the shotgun at that time.
I always heard hard cast slugs were the best for bears, but most fish and game choose the 12 gauge. I believe that's what they used at the Treadwell campsite to dispatch those bears.

This is the one I want just because
It's the 460 performance center no brake. Be perfect.

Not exactly a "glowing recommendation" as a stopping/defense cartridge for Bear defense. Needing 3 rounds to accomplish the task, likely better placed than in a defense situation, doesn't give me the warm fuzzies…..especially when getting 3 rounds into play during a legitimate Bear attack is unlikely! memtb
Other than with a head/spine shot you're not going to stop a bear with a single shot from any handgun.

Hey guys, we have a long hunt in the heart of grizzly territory this year in Wyoming (archery)

We will have the call guy carry the short shotgun for defense in the timber.

Curious what rounds everyone uses or suggests would be the best? Slugs? Buck?

Thanks!
Brenneke slugs work best on bears to break the charge, you are delivering about 1600 ft lbs of kinetic energy on impact. Carry some bird shot incase a bear raids your camp, you can still aquire camp meat for an enjoyable hunt or exfil. Good luck and enjoy your hunt.

Brenneke Black Magic Magnum 3", weight 602 grains, 1502 FPS, and 3014 ft-lbs at the muzzle. I carried these on my Alaska outback fishing trips, in a rifled barreled 12ga Ithica DeerSlayer.... both of them I felt comfortable with, and the Bennneke loads were very, very accurate.

That's about as good as it gets for defense on big bears.

Honestly I'd go with a 450 bushmaster AR
It's not very long and handles easily and has quick shots with enough thump or even a 50 Beowulf
As I stated before if I were to use a shotgun for this type of task. It would be all copper sabots fully bonded slugs like the accutips or dual bond or partition golds (if any are still around) and it's my opinion the foster slugs are too soft with no structure and flatten out and break up. I've seen it too many times on deer although the deer ended up being dead but deer are no big bears where penetration is required. I personally would not feel safe with the standard rifled (foster) slugs but with heavily structured slugs only.
