"Self defense", with what? Guess I'm stoopid, all I see is a piece of wood shaped roughly like a pistol with a spring-loaded device that can detonate a cap...
There was a guy on Youtube, Richard (Royal Nonesuch) that's done some really cool builds that actually fire bullets. IIRC Youtube shut him down, hangs out with Mark Serbu and Edward Sarkissian (if you like to watch guys blow s*** up).
