That probably is one of the best all-around scopes you could purchase if you're wanting to hunt. It could be used for long-range shooting, but then, so could a lot of other scopes. As far as optical quality, you'd have to move up to the Hensoldt line to beat it. However, for long-range shooting, there are scopes that have specialized features (target turrets, zero stops, specialized reticles, higher magnification) that make them better suited, IMO. Nightforce, IOR and Bushnell Elite series to name a few. You can also get the Zeiss V/VM in a 6-24x56, but I believe it's a SFP reticle; most long-range shooters prefer a Mil-Mil setup in a FFP reticle.
