I am looking at a Z5 Swarovski in either 2.4-12x50 and 3-18x44. I have read that the 3-18 is brighter, anyone have both that can confirm this?

The x50 will be a brighter scope and for hunting use a 2.4-12 is more advantageous than a 3-18, assuming your farthest shot is inside 750 yards. There won't be much difference in the two on the bottom setting, but there will be a huge difference on the top setting. I would go for the 3-18X.

I have both. The 3-18 is definitely not brighter than the 2.4 - 12. Both great scopes. I have the BT turret on my 3 - 18 and prefer the BT turret to the "regular" turrets on the 2.4 - 12.
