Does anyone know who makes an xp clone action to where I can build a centerfield custom pistol? Mainly with a mag bolt face.
thanks

Apache Gunworks, HS 2000, Kelby, Remington, Savage.

Or, if you want a magnum already built, check out the classifieds at Specialtypistols.

Well I know about most of those options. I was curious if anyone offered a custom action that would fit the footprint of the xp100 action. Im wanting to build a center grip in possibly 7wsm,7saum or 6.5 saum. But xp100s are getting pretty rare and hard to find. So it im building a custom might as well go with a custom action.
I did just pick up two xps though and one might be a good candidate for a build as it looks like its kinda been tinkered with.

Are there any big complications from just buying a new standard short rifle action (example 300 savage or 308 bolt face) with a fixed magazine and building up a center grip XP-100R type setup ?

I don't mean the usual items related to building up any quality gun, I means specific to using standard short rifle action parts to make an XP-100R type center grip handgun.

Based on what I have seen and tested, I assume that a person would want to do this with a left hand bolt action if they are right handed.

I am thinking that the most complicated part is the trigger aspect, but I suppose there are legal aspects as well.

Thanks

Though I've never done this, I think the primary headache is getting your rifle reclassified as a pistol. I believe this has been addressed in the forum here somewhere. I'm sure someone with experience can speak to this with more insight than myself... But something to investigate.

Once a rifle, always a rifle. A rifle has a barrel over 16.5" long and an overall barreled action of at least 26".

HOWEVER, if you buy an undesignated action, that is an action that has not been anything before, you can make it anything you want.

I hope this answers your question.

An making a center grip pistol is mostly making a trigger mount with linkage. Personally, I would make it electric so less to fool with. Say using a paintball gun electric trigger setup?

Unless you're real good with machining. Reinventing the Savage or Remington linkage is gonna be a little involved.

Thanks, for the info, that exactly answers my question. The action would be new / undesignated. I agree about the electric trigger, it just seems like an easier concept to make work.

Borden's Alpine action is a XP-100 clone action.
It is a non-designated action, and it works great on a center grip.
