I drew my first choice antelope tag and will buy a leftover doe tag and buck mulie tag. My buddy in Sheridan drew all of his first choices and got an antelope tag in my unit, LE bull and cow tags, and a LE mulie buck tag. It's going to be a busy 7 or 8 weeks out there this year!
Pulled in a couple antelope doe gimme tags, kinda jacked as it's the first time I'm hitting Wyoming. Going to tear up antelope season this year, hit MT opener then then 5 days later hit Wyoming gun)
Does anyone have any advice for that area because I have never hunted in wyoming. Ive done all my elk and bear hunting in Idaho so this is going to be a new trip for me. any advice would be great!!
I had a region Y tag last year. We filled two out of three and could have easily filled all 3 but last guy was holding out. We ended up shooting a 140 and a 170 class deer. I wouldn't go there expecting to shoot giants. We hunted for 10 days and packed in away from people and worked our tails off. We did see alot of deer and covered a lot of ground and we did see some others that were very nice deer but couldn't close the deal. It is amazing country to hunt but you need to be prepared to work hard for a bigger deer. I drew region R this year and am very excited to try the western slope of the Bighorns! Good luck!
A 170" deer is sure nothing to be ashamed of! PM me with the general area you were hunting in and I'll PM the member with the best ways to get around there on his hunt as I have a good CD ROM program of the entire state. I'm staying over in Region M again for deer where I hunt every year and also have an antelope tag to fill.
I did a lot of reading before applying for region Y and knew that the chances of shooting a giant were slim but I figured this would be a good place to start. This will be my first mule deer hunt. I've been a whitetail hunter my whole life so im just excited to try something new. I would take that 170 incher any day. Hopefully I can come away with a nice deer!
