Wood Chucks in PA with a Semi Auto

I hunted in NE PA Since the early 70's. I know when there was a time that you could not using semi auto rifles for hunting. I that still true to hunt Chucks with a semi auto NoNO??? IN PA

Semi autos rifle were approved in 2018 for hunting small game and fur bearers.
