Will Obama spread NY gun laws?

All,
Recently there has been an announcement of some new possible legislation coming to NY. This new legislation will limit ammo sales to twice the capacity of your fire-arm every 90 days. This would mean 8 rounds of 3006 for my hunting rifle or 12 rounds of 357mag for my revolver. Further more, it is looking to ban ammo which are made for military style rifles including 223, 5.56...etc. I doubt this legislation will pass but we also said the same thing about the NY SAFE Act.

Now I know many of you will simply say, time for you NYers to move or "glad I don't live in that state". Well guess who was just here just a little while ago meeting with people like Bloomberg to discuss his executive orders.... Mr. Obama himself. I hate spreading panic and such but it is starting to get a bit serious (or at least that is how I feel)

Sad state of affairs in NY. This should be in the political forum though...

Barrelnut,

I didn't realize there was a political forum. Honestly though I want as many people to read this as possible and this sub-forum gets some of the most views. I hate spreading panic but as I stated, it might be time to start panicking. Who knows what Obama has in the works. I have always said to myself as a NYer, "well if things get real bad I will move to Vermont" which would only be like a 50minute commute for me to work. Well, what good will that do if Obama pushes NY style gun control everywhere. We really need to start getting the word out including speaking to our state senators and assemblymen/women.

You're as bad as the mainstream media for trying to spread panic. Too bad for NY if that goes through, but it will never happen in most western states.

Figured you didn't know about the political forum. Just letting you know really.

I know where you are coming from with state specific guns laws. Oregon got hit hard this year. Bloomberg brought his money to town and bought elections in the state legislature. Then when he got his cronies in place, the voted in mandatory gun checks on all guns sales, both public and private. They did this vote in the legislature, they did not allow the citizens to vote on it. This is in a state that already had gun laws in place that mandated background checks at gun shows for both public and private sales. What irritates me is that the NRA did nothing to help stop Bloomberg.

I have not heard of Obama trying to press additional guns laws in a specific state as you mention. But, I think it is widely know that he and Bloomberg are drafting "executive orders". I bet we see those right after the first of the year.

In Oregon signed petitions could have forced a recall of this last gun law and moved it to a vote by the citizens, not just something signed in by the legislature. Problem is the cronies had thought of that, so they had it passed as some stipulation that it could not be revoked and voted on by the citizens

I think you folks in NY need to get out and get signed petitions, not just call your senators. You need to take it to the streets somehow.

Jcub...please read barrelnuts explanation above. He sums it up nicely. You say it will never reach the Midwest but I'm sorry to say it is spreading. That is why I'm posting this. Not to try and scare everyone but more to try and educate. If you don't think these laws can come your way...you are sadly mistaken unless we start voting the right people in office. Just saying.

Yes we have great gun laws in Vermont, or lack there of. Of course every year people attack them more and more, so far unsuccessfully. You in Northern New York or near Southern Vermont? We have a great club up here in North West Vermont Im sure you would like.

He would if he could but he can't.

Folks in NY need to start pushing back hard. Limits on ammo such as are proposed here are absolutely ridiculous and I see no way they can be held to be constitutional.

don't think new Yorkers aint pushing back. the safe act is heading to supreme court but that takes years. just wait until you cant use the internet to buy anything then have to pay crazy mark ups if you find ammo or reloading supplies. they don't care if it is unconstitual takes so long to fight it they are out of office. WATCH YOUR BACK

like that law would stop any terrorist from going to a neighboring state to get what they need. this is where executive orders will come in. then being a western state wont help you much.

Makes me puke to read libtards talk about how you can't drive without a license, but just try to suggest that VOTING should be controlled with an affirmative ID and watch them squeal!

And one, i said one, of the socialist from Vermont is currently running in the hopes of replacing the big O.
