Will a 260AI clean up a 6.5 CM chamber?

6.5 and 260ai on the left. I would have to measure them up, but a 260ai should clean up a 6.5 as you are pushing the shoulder forwards a fair bit.

Please measure LongBomber.
I'm having a hard time finding a 260AI reamer print or drawing because it's not a SAAMI cartridge.
The only drawing I can find shows the 260AI shoulder measuring 0.459"
The 6.5cm shoulder is wider at 0.462" (I have a drawing for this).

If this is the case, a 260AI reamer would not fully cleanup a 6.5cm chamber.
Here, it would not really be Ackley Improved, and dies would not work right at the shoulder.

Personally, I would just get a new barrel blank, and order a 260AI reamer set for it's chambering.
It is IMO, the best in 26cal.

I believe JE Custom spoke of this on another thread, and Mikecr is correct, it does not clean it up properly, and would have to be set back a significant amount. If the current chamber isn't reamed perfectly strait, then it would be challenging clean it up. So it can be done, but if sticking with the same barrel, it would be best to cut off the threads and just have the smith cut new ones to ensure a proper chamber.

In my .260 AI with a 29" barrel, I am shooting the 156 EOL at 2940 fps using RL26. Pressure signs didn't appear until I was right at 3000 fps. In speaking with another member shooting them out of a 20" .260 AI, he was attaining 2725 fps, and had no pressure signs, also using RL26, with an almost identical load to mine. That should give you an idea on performance, in a 26", 2900 + or - for max, realistically you would likely run in the 2850ish range, give or take depending on how fast the barrel is. For reference, the other member was using a factory Tikka barrel that was originally a .260, and I am using a Krieger 8 twist 4 groove.

Awesome thanks! 6.5-284, and 26Nos next to em?
What the c.o.a.l of the 260ai and 6.5?
Velocity differences?
I'm thinkin a 100-150 fps would be nice in a 26".
Yup a 6.5-284 and a 26. I actually run the -284 at 6.5cm speeds, it is a slow barrel compared to what is normal speeds for a 6.5-284 but the accuracy is still holding in at 1650ish rounds.

I will take a measure when I get home, Mikecr is right in that there is no sammi spec for 260ai. with shoulder dia being 3 thou different and the AI having minimal taper it could be a case of one reamer might clean it up and the next not. Also begs the question about dies and the tolerances between your chamber and the die.
