I was in Schnee's last week and saw one of these sitting on the floor.
Field Optics Research - MicroLite Tripod. Model: FT5017C (carbon)
I picked it up and thought it might fly away. The more I turned it over in my hands, the more I liked it. Eventually I had to look at the price tag, knowing assuredly that it would be a $300+ tripod . . . drumroll please . . .
$185 . . . in Schnee's . . . where everything is expensive!!!
I found them at B&H Photo for $170.
So, who's got one?
I was blown away by the quality and components. The hardware was all aluminum and seemed to be really well done. I especially liked the detents where the legs fold. All of the legs have 180* of folding capability, so when you flip them all the way upside down, the entire tripod collapses onto the center tube (it's super compact like this).
I know what I'm asking for Christmas . . .
