Bushing or no bushing, carbide or not carbide? Micrometer seating die or not?

I am ordering a set of Whidden bushing dies for the 6.5-280 Ackley when it is finished. That got me to thinking about a building a 280 Ackley. There are quite a few options in that arena. Now I am wondering what everyone is using with a SAMMI chamber 280 Ackley.

Thanks

It kinda depends on your job for the cartridge/ rifle. Or I should say at least for me. On general hunters and plinkers just regular dies. On something that is more precise or that I like loading a lot for I'll dish out the extra money.

I was debating with myself on a 280 AI too. For me it would be a LR hunter, so either dies would work. I looked at the Hornady dies as they were cheaper. But a micrometer seater would be nice.

I use type S bushing dies on my 280 AI hunting rifle. I also have the micrometer seating die. They make some really nice ammo and bushing allow you to play with the neck neck tension. I think I still have a set of Hornady dies for the 280 AI it was fine as well.

I was just looking at that set right now. Spendy but boy sure looks like the way to go.

Too late lol.
I would go with Redding bushing dies with the Redding micrometer match seater with the bushing dies you can control neck tension remove the expander and maintain better bullet alinement some mono bullets perform better with .004 neck tension a standard die sets you at .002 for example .004 neck tension is recommended for Hammer bullets plus if you wanted too wildcat the 280ackley too 6.5 280 ackley or 25 280 ackley all you have too do is change bushings without buying extra dies the bushing dies are worth the extra cost

Just for conversation; you even give any thought to the 7×64mm Brenneke case? When pushed out to an Ackley I think it might pick up a little in the speed game, or not... I've never done it, but... it sounds good. Cheers
