Exactly. Allow me to preface this by stating that I shoot Berger bullets in six of my rifles. It’s marketing mostly hype seeking to create a buzz that doesn’t mean anything for the majority of 30 cal shooters. I know only a couple of guys shooting 8 twist or 9 twist 30 caliber large capacity magnums, 30/338 Lapua, 300 RUM, ect. that could send anything bigger that the existing 230g offerings they already haven’t been able to effectively supply over the last several years. The overwhelming majority of us don’t have anything that could efficiently send these new bullets, they own and shoot 308, maybe a 30/06, or a 300Win. A 230g becomes a marginal return in a factory 300Win, let alone something heavier. Furthermore, the overwhelming majority of 30 cal rifles are 10 twist and slower. It’s simply excluding more and more of the market to serve less and less clients. As a business owner myself, it makes more sense to commit more resources to better serve the customers that they already have. It’s great to innovate and open new markets, however, it shouldn’t continue to be at the expense of the majority of the market you serve. There are a number of threads on just this forum over the last couple of years with folks looking for alternatives to a Berger bullet that they can’t consistently obtain. Those are all lost clients for Berger and lost revenue. I have been fortunate over the years to be able to get enough bullets when they are available to last the potential life of my barrels and haven’t had to deal with the PIA it is to start over with a new bullet because the regular bullet is out of stock. My hope is that Berger can get a few new bullets, this one included,to the market, but better serve the folks that they already count as customers.
