What twist for 223 Wylde and wide variety weight of bullets?

From my experience with 7 .223 match rifles, a 1-8" twist is a good "do it all" choice. It will easily stabilize Berger 80 grain VLDs, and does not blow up 50 grain varmint bullets. -Ed
Most of the 223's are throated quite short being a cartridge designed for automatic rifles. My question is how much case capacity is lost when using 70 and 80 grain projectiles due to the short neck allowing the bullet base to protrude into the case? Would it be 222Rem capacity or a little larger across your 7 rifles? Don't count the rifles that are just about worn out, just the relatively new ones.

I built my son a 223 because he doesn't handload and loaded cartridges seem available just about anywhere. I use all bolt guns for myself and the 222Rem Mag with the longer neck is a far better choice.
