I pushed a patch out of my 338 to find this-

Look at the tiny crinkly gray things. Almost looks like pieces of plastic. I don't see any coating missing off my rod either.

It was a little hard to tell from the pic, but they look cylindrical in shape. I once found some glass beading material in a new gun but it was round.????

It's flat...the closest thing I can think of is the "thread" from a tarp that is coming apart.
