Just got a Model 99 Barrett in .416 Barrett. What scope should I put on top to reach out to at least 2000 yards? It takes 43moa to get to 1500 yards using Barretts 450gr bthp traveling 3050. PRICED UNDER $2500! I'm thinking a Nightforce 8-32x56.

That would be my pick in magnification, the model would be the NXS with illuminated reticle.
My second pick would be the Leupold Mark4 ERT 6.5-20x50 34mm M5 with locking adjustments.

how many minutes to 2k would be the question. the 8x32 doesn't have as much adjustment as the 5x22. you might have to have that thing canted perfect, zeroed just off the bottom to get to 2k.

they only have 65 moa adjustment total. you can go farther using the reticle. OR just get a March with 100 moa adjustment. a better scope.

I would save a few more bucks and go with a IOR 12-52x56 MF 40mm ED TERMINATOR MULTI-BDC ILLUMINATED MP-8 XTREME. It can be set up for a .50 BMG and the glass is better than a NF.

IMO,
Jon

My M99 has a 27 moa rail, it's a few years old, but I assume the new ones would be the same. I have a Leupold mk4 w/a BORS, and I can shoot from 100yds (zero for the BORS) to 1600 yards (50 BMG). I'm sure it will go further, but 1600 is the furthest I have access to. I have no idea how much further though.

Trying to resolve the same problem. I use a 12-50 S&B but at 2400 yds need 75 moa and only have 65. Use 3mil hold. New S&B 25 has moa range of about 115 moa but not powerful enough. Also at those ranges mils spacing is too coarse. Looking at ior terminator 12-52 but would prefer not to have sfp. Anybody using ior 12-52.

I estimate 76 moa

I'm with R.C.Saul on this one 76 MOA ..... Your real drop will come betwee 1700 yards and 2000 yards. With it set up the way you've stated at 1700 yards your drop should be about 976" inches and vel's should be 1250 fps. when you reach 2000 yards you've dropped something like 1595 inches with your vel's at 1100 fps... that give you a 619" inch drop between 1700 & 2000 yards.
From the way it sounds you should have about 70 MOA in your scope now without the 27 MOA rail mount. How high are you above the bore?
Head out to 2500 yards and it really gets ugly.

It does have a 27 moa rail on top. I'm thinking nightforce 8-32 with a set of Barrett rings that give more moa.

I use a March 8x80 for my F Class 6.5 that I will be using in the worlds next month in New Mexico. I have two night force scopes and the turrets are great on both but at 1000 yds the 60-80 power and optics of the March are great.
