All,

I know I should measure but the problem is I do not own any 30mm tubes so this will be my first and I do not own any 50mm bell scopes. Can anyone give me an idea on height of scope rings I should buy for my Christensen Arms Mesa (rem 700 clone action)? I plan on using a 20moa picatinny rail. I am leaning towards buying the vortex precision matched rings but no idea what height to go with. I do plan on using scope cover on the scope. Thanks for any and all help!

I use Night Force lows with a Rem 700 in their 20 MOA rail. This is a NSX with 30mm tube. Also have Hawkins lows with a 34mm tube and a NF 20 MOA rail. Both barrels are Proof/Christensen so they are large diameter and I have good clearance.

It really depends on the outer objective ring, not the glass size. Most manufacturers will list maximum allowable, but it usually isn't one size fits all.

I think you would be good with lows

This is what a 30 MM tube and a 50 MM objective mounted on the same gun u are talking about looks like in Seekins medium rings. I forgot to add the base is a Seekins 20 MOA base.

Low should be fine long as your caps work

Low will work fine

700 in 7mm rem mag with magnum sporter barrel and Leupold VX-III 3.5-10x50mm in Leupold medium rings ... scope length matters.

Low is a relative term. You should know how far above the bore center your scope center needs to be for the objective to clear the barrel. And yes the length of your scope has a big factor.

Awful lot of votes here for low, but I'm saying medium For 50 mm and caps .. just me!

Hopefully this helps clear it up for the OP. Here's a 700 with a heavier profile Shilen Barrel, 20 MOA rail and low Seekins Precision rings. Seekins makes the Vortex PMR rings and are apex's the same. PST Gen 2 5-25x50. If I had a BULL Barrel it would still clear with no issues. Barrel as pictured is .900 just below the scope Bell. There's a good 1/4"-1/2" of clearance. The rail elevates the rings. I also have this setup on my CA Ridgeline with similar clearance and that has even a beefier CF barrel.
