Thought I had a good load of 40.5grs IMR 4320 behind 52gr A-max.Not consistant enough plus loads are too hot now. So I could use IMR 4064 0r H380,IMR 4895,AA2520. Any suggestions all with 52gr AMax.

Iron Worker, I agree with SEWWHAT89, go with H414. It works great in my 220 Swift. I use 43grns of H414 with a 40grn V-Max, and my velocity is right at 4200fps in my 28", 1-14 twist Lilja barrel. This load is perfect, I could go a little higher, however, I am not showing any signs of preasure so it's perfect. I am also getting right at 4000fps with a 50grn V-Max with the same 43grns of H414. I think it will work really well in your 22-250 AI. Let us know what powder you decide on, and how it works.

I would suggest using even slower powders, I have 2- 22-250 AI's 1 likes VVN160 and my other rifle likes IMR4831.
all the powders you list are too fast of a burn rate, and H380 is down right dangerous in this chambering. just try IMR4831 with the 55gr bullet you like, save the 40's for a 223

Ok I have some H4350 and some IMR 4350. The Sierra book hasXMR 4350. Also some 55gr Sierra pills. They say no two 4350s a alike. What should I try? What 4831 in my AI ? Got some of that also, can I use that for the 55s? I'm going to reloaders nest see what they say?

Ok Here's what I loaded. 55gr Sierra Blitzking, In front of 42.5grs of H4831. Went to Reloaders nest .Some one posted 43grs with comment "Just under Max" so I droped it 5/10ths. Now I look in Sierra book and for a 60gr HP they list 44.9 H4831.Confusing. My twist is 1in14. Tried 60 grs before with diffrent powder and they shot super bad. Do you all think H4831 with 60 gr pills will behave differently? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I had my 22-250AI made with a 1-12 twist. It shoots the 55 grain NBT great with 43 gr of Ramshot Big Game powder. IMHO a 1-14 twist is too slow for anything heavier than 55 grains, but what do I know? If you can get your hands on Big Game, give it a try. Good Luck, and God Bless

My rifle is a Cooper classic. 1in 14 twist.I'm satisfied with 3/8ths groups. Yes I want a quicker twist BBL. Called Cooper they quoated $600 bucks for their brand BBL. I might as well get a Krieger, obermyer,Lija,or Hart. Yes 60gr pills are all over the target.

Iron Worker, go with H414. I am telling you, H414 will work in your 22-250 AI. Your 1-14 twist barrel is ment for the 40 to 50grn pills, any heavier and the 1-14 twist will not stablize the bullet. If your not dead set on the A-Max bullet, try the 40 or 50grn V-Max. I know the A-Max has a higher BC, but I think you will be very suprised with the accuracy and performance of the V-Max bullets.

My 220 Swift is used for ranges out to about 450 to 500 yards and the 40grn V-Max does really well. However, if the wind comes up, the A-Max bullet will do better. If the wind picks up while I am shooting the 220 Swift, I am lucky enough to bring out the 6x284. Here is what I use in my 220 Swift; 43grns of H414, 40grn V-Max, Federal 205 Match Primer, and Norma brass. This combination, for me, is very accurate and deadly out to 450 to 500 yards. I am lunching the above mentioned combination right at 4200fps. Try this powder and bullet combination, I know it will work in your rig, and you will love what it does to varmints.

Shot my new loads on the 200yd line. Man what a difference.Rifle is a Cooper Classic.Maybe it doesn't ride the bags well.I was hitting the bench rest 1"squares. Just not getting a tight little group. But good enough to send a coyote into eternity.
