looking to get a new rifle, It will be a 300 rum. but what one? lookin ant the sendero, I would love to go with a custom rifle but they seem to be a lil high in price. I would like to stay around under 2500 after gun, scope, rings/mount and upgrades. this rifl will not even be hunted with all the time as I archery hunt 2 out of 3 years for elk and 2 out of 3 for elk. any help would?

Just start looking through the used gun rack. If you have patience you can pick up a nice used Rem 700 with the magnum bolt face for under $300. I just picked one up for right at $200 in 7MM Rem Mag. Usually their gotten rid of as the last owner had the snot kicked out of them by the badly designed stock and their really sick of the recoil and get rid of it cheap to buy something more recoil friendly. Send it off to someone like Hart barrels who will true up the action with a basic blueprint and put on a barrel chambered in .300 Rum. That will get you up and running. From there you can install an aftermarket trigger when you want and an aftermarket stock when you want. Same with a muzzle break and a Wyatts box magazine. Starting that way you can have a rifle up and running pretty quickly and do the upgrades as you go along and keep the rifle under $1000 to start without much trouble. Spend the rest on good glass. I have seen the Rem 700 Sendero in .300 RUM on the shelves new for $1199.99 lately and that will also give you a good start with few if any changes outside of a break needed.
