Guys
Quick question of the experts

my son loaded some shells (270/7.08) and we went to shoot at range...
they shot great

Put in back of truck and went home.
Got to talking and left in truck bed

It rained and filled the box up with water
Found a couple days later

Took the shells out of wet box dried them and shook and powder is dry as I could hear it inside.

But not sure if I should shoot?

thoughts?

Pull the projectile out of one round, tip the powder and check for dampness, in powder and case.

Then I would just fire off the primer to check ot hasn't absorbed water.

How many round are we talking about here, if a coulpe not worth mucking around.

It's unlikely any water made it's way into the cases, I've had/used wet and submerged cartridges with no issues, but not for days.

We are talking about 75 total loaded with Berger's per caliber and they were in there two weeks before I noticed them
If you really mean they were wet for two weeks, my recommendation is pull bullets, dump powder and deprime. If even just one had "leaked" it is possible you would have a projectile 1/2 way up your barrel that would put a damper on your day at the range.

Thanks so much for the advice....
Based on the comments and safety we are doing to pull, de prim, dump and start over
Bad mistake on our part but that's what happens sometimes when u forget ur memory medicene!

Yep
The two weeks was because I went on back to back company trips... came back and was going to range... and saw my box in back of truck

Yep
Stupid for sure....
I really don't think stopping two weeks ago and watching the Alabama game at Hammerheads and a few beers had anything to do with it at all either

I always seal the primer and neck with finger nail lacquer, seals fine. I won't waste the time for general target shooting. Then again, I 've only had them wet by short rains and a one time dunking while crossing a creek, not submerged for two weeks. JM

Shoot one and then shoot them all!
