If anyone cares, the person I was chatting with thanked me for the response (I sent an applied ballistics webpage with the math easily spelled out) and he said he learned something. I really thought he was going to call me an idiot or something, so that was a pleasant surprise. We both learned something through it all and that's the purpose of discussing things.
