So I got in on this deal awhile back. A large-volume Weatherby authorized dealer was trying to move several models of Weatherby Mark V rifles for a few hundred off regular street price. I found a couple RC models hidden in the pile that I thought were pricing errors. They were actually priced BELOW regular, uncertified models. Upon questioning the dealer, I was assured there were no errors. This was a deal among deals! I quickly said, "I'll take 2, please!"There was no sales tax, and they cut me a deal on shipping. I paid $10 to have them transferred and was in business. But what business? I didn't need either of them. I was simply buying them because I'd never see one at that price again. I thought at the very least, I could use them for trade bait for something "cool."

Many times over I've offered them for sale at just what I paid. I've reached out to dealers who had "cool" stuff at a price point below the tag they had hanging on the desired item. Nobody was interested. The gun market is so depressed right now, everyone just wants to move inventory. Weatherby is a popular brand, and therefore, in plentiful supply. Everyone blew their "defense budget" for the next 10 years when O'bama was in office. Nobody is in any hurry to buy anything "gun" and are looking for deals even better than what I got.

So here I sit with 2 Weatherby Mark V Range Certified Arroyos chambered in .270 Wby and 7mm Wby, respectively, that NO ONE would even consider purchasing at $500 - $600 below street retail, or even trading for. Then is when the notion strikes me. Hey, these are some REALLY sexy rifles! Targets show they are capable of sub-1/2 MOA, and either are capable of killing anything that walks on the continent at distances of 1/2 mile or more. Short bolt throw, silky smooth action, my most favorite safety ever, in a weatherproof beautiful package. So it finally dawns on me to put a scope on these things, load up some ammo, and enjoy the fact I probably have the best rifles in existence at this price point!

Any experience or loading advice?

A good friend just bought one in 6.5x300 at the Grand Opening of their new plant here in Sheridan Wy. I'm waiting to get a chance to shoot it! Only down side is it was the last of their guns to be produced in The Soviet Socialist State of California and is Stamped as such. The new location here in WY will produce all their products right here in the Land of the Free and Well armed! Current and former Governors were both there to speak and affirm that Wy will be the firearms manufacturers safe haven from the Gun Grabbing Socialists in this country and it's in our state laws to do just that.
I'm proud to be from one of the few places in this Union for which tradition and Our Constitution are both respected and defended and our borders are sacred!

I was wanting an RC Mark V accumark in 6.5 Creedmoore a while back but figured I had enough "heavy" rifles in my safe and bought a Wby Altitude. Seems they were hovering around 2,700 at the time (premium price for RC). Anyway, looking back on it, I'm glad I did not go the RC route. Not to pat myself too hard on the back but as an "intermediate" reloader with plenty to learn, I have still been able to get many of my new rifles 1/2 MOA in a matter of a couple basic charge ladders and maybe 50 rounds.

I feel the OP's pain on trying to sell rifles. I tried to off-load some pretty nice stuff over the last 2 years and had a heck of a time doing it. Not willing to take a " bath" I've had the horrible misfortune of keeping some beautiful rifles. So .300 Dakota, hang on to those Weatherbys and stretch their legs. That's what I would do.

Ok, So I have to ask, how much for the 270 WBY? I really like that round
Lol! I understand there is an area for buying, selling, and trading, so I don't want to violate rules being a newbie here. Some sites take that stuff serious! But just to let you know how much I been walking around trying to pawn it off for with no luck, $1700... How horrible is that for a new in the box RC Arroyo? The target with the 270 shows a grouping of 0.441", I believe with their factory 130gr Barnes TTSX. That's within a few thousandths of exactly what I got out of a Lazermark 3 years ago on my first attempt with that same bullet handloading. My load was faster, though! Weatherbys LOVE Barnes bullets! I haven't even opened the box on the 7mm to see what it shot. I literally cut the end tape to unseal the 270 for photos. If you guys get your hands on a 6.5x300, I'm going to give you some loading advice: Reloader 50! US869 is good, but not AS good in this cartridge as RL 50! Tried it in a vanguard. The 26" barrel wasn't enough to push top velocity, though. You need the 28" on the high end versions!

Well, I have successfully traded one of the two. Took a beating on paper, but covered some of my needs nicely. Traded for 2 rifles. A scoped Savage Model 11 in .260 Remington with 1:8 (Creedmoor be damned!), and one of the last remaining Browning X-Bolt Medallions with rifle sights chambered in .300 H&H. I had been drooling over one of those since they were introduced. Of course you know they were discontinued for poor sales. I do wish they had made it with a 26" barrel like the rest of their magnums, but it will be quite useful with the 24" pipe. It is slightly heavier than standard sporter weight. Going with Norma brass and Woodleigh bullets for the first range session. Also looking at some old school gloss black scopes from Leupold and Burris for a totally classic set up.
