There is a Jamacian scammer ring out of Florida working gun forums for want to buy items. They have stolen multiple IDs with pictures, drivers license, technical licenses and even LE ID and badges, CCWs etc, hacked emails and burner phones to answer phone calls. they are very attention to detail with numerous pictures of the item, details about the item, personal details etc. They are knowledgable and not dummies on the item. Only thing I did not do was ask for current pic with something else in one of the photos. My fault there obviously. However, I found out they are photo shopping pics of a requrested item into the picture even then they send some people so they have computer skills.

I tried to buy a ruger mannlicher 7-08, got phone number, CCW, drivers license, state Fire Dept badge and ID, matching email address to the name and numerous personal emails etc. Got me for $910. Tracked the real guy down thru white pages and he outlined a two year process to turn these guys in. FBI will not touch it he said, but at least 10-15 people been hit using his IDs and old email and FB pics.

They are using Zelle, paypal etc.

They also ask for your ID so they have a steady flow of new IDs coming in regardless if they complete the transaction.

Watch out for names of Jones Barton, Jeffery L. Kelly, John Janda, Joe Miles names for sure. These guys had their Ids stolen and are being used. However, according to real guy he has found out about 10-12 IDs with copius details they are using.

Any have an FBI agent that wants to bust a big time scammer ring, have them contact me.

With all the scamming going on these days, It's probably best to get the phone number and call the person and talk about the items. That way they have no time to look up the answers. It's sad but this is what it's come to.

No FBI is going to touch them.
This is a small fry group. There are far larger, trust me my family member lost 55000 in one a few years back. FBI was involved and couldn't touch them. The lengths of trickery is amazing with some of them. They would actually be good at a real job but obviously it's too good of a deal to steal it.

"Only thing I did not do was ask for current pic with something else in one of the photos."
I swear this works!

A phone call.
No Zelle bs.
Accents different than a "good ol boy" is a red flag. (No bobsled quickie mart bs for me)
I usually don't need to even go to this extreme, you can get a read on real people pretty quick through a couple PMs and a call.

Thanks for the HEADS UP!!!! Some good ol' vigilante justice would be entertaining😉

I keep a running talley of who I've dealt with and how the experience was…it is a part of my Buyer/Seller Feedback! We can avoid major heartache by using a few fail safe's that this forum provides…most importantly, the membership has & will continue to defend protect the integrity of the forum.

Sorry about your loss…May your next victory fill up the CUP past the point of overflowin'!!!!

I have had attempts to sell me hi dollar items, a 1967 Jaguar XKE in museum condition, a 1937 Beachcraft D-17 in a crate, several guns, etc. All were scams. I suspected them from the beginning because the price was just too good to believe. The guns would not post me a picture of the gun laying on the front page of todays newspaper. The Jag was in Hawaii and the picture showed cobblestone streets and he wanted to ship to Texas by truck...LOL. The Airplane was already crated for shipping to another customer that backed out of the deal so he could not post pictures. He was going to send a team to reassemble the airplane on arrival but didnt know what an A&P was.
Seems there is usually some clue.
