Ok out there. I have a Remington 700 in 308 and I am looking at the Vortex PST 6-24x50 FFP Scope. With the limit of 19 MilRads elevation what cant base do I need to stretch out my range? I know it's a long shot but I want to push it to 1000 yards. Please give me your input!
Thanks

Looking at somewhat generic load data from Hornady you should have plenty of adjustment to get there even with a zero MOA rail unless my brain is way off tonight; which is entirely possible.gun)

Thanks!
But with 19 mrads won't I lose some of that zeroing the rifle. Some say as much as half! This is all mind boggling to me. I had a Nightforce with 100 moa but for my eyes it was not very clear.

No you won't lose your zero if it tracks true.

Personally I'd probably put it on a 10 MOA rail and set my zero for 300yds and just rip and roll from there. That would give you more than enough to really stretch it out if you want to.

Rereading your post I see better your question.

You might lose some of that in zeroing but again if I'm doing the math right you have 741" total adjustment for 1000yds. With the generic drop info I got off of the calculator you only need a maximum of 244" to get to 1000yds with a 200yds zero.

741-244=497" remaining.

It'd take something being really messed up to use up even a small fraction of that in zeroing.

In my experience with the .308, if you want to have as close to full adjustment of your elevation, you will want to look into a 20MOA rail.
