Very long range binoculars at modest price?

I was interested in getting a spotting scope for some long range glassing but the single eye issue (contacts/glasses) keeps me from going that route... I did stumble across a set of higher power binoculars that on several sites have decent ratings and they are under $800... Japanese glass and assembled in the USA, anyone see, use, or have a comment on these?
