Question for all you gurus, what kind of velocity do y'all think i could get out of a 19" 4 groove 8 twist in a 6x284 shooting 105 bergers or the 107 smk's.

Not sure but you can probably subtract about 40' per inch of barrel length from a known length and velocity. I guess my curiosity begs to know WHY would you want that cartridge with a 19" barrel? There are probably a lot better rounds for that type of application that would be a LOT easier on barrels and get close to the same velocity. Just curious

It's for a SP I'm building on a savage PTA i posted the same question on specialty handgun section just thought I might get a little attention here since there aren't alot of SP shooters on here.
