Wondering if there will be a substantial difference in upgrading to the NL pure, or the Zeiss SF? Anyone able to answer this question? I know only I can decide if it's worth spending the money but I'd like to know how much of an improvement I could expect. I love the 7x42 but want the best I can get an a Bino for hunting use.

Most of my hunting is in the southeast either in dark timber with 80 yard shots, or on large fields with 300-400 yard shots.

I've used my 7x42 SLC's for 3 decades or so, they're still incredible. I'll be interested to hear if anyone has actually used both and done a head to head....

My thoughts would be to save the money and put it towards a hunt somewhere you've always wanted to go:)

If your SLC's are 30+ years old, you would likely see improvement with newer glass. But with your hunting, I don't think you need to spend the money on NL's. Newer SLC's or even EL's will be less expensive and do the job well. Fwiw, I had 10x42 EL's which I sold and got the 12x42 NL's and the NL's are fantastic. But my glassing is open country for miles so the value is there for me.

I had some ziess 10x42 early on.I hunt all types of country. They where only 22 oz if I remember. I then got the 10x42 el,then the 10x32, EL,almost no gain in optics. Now I still have the 32el,but also pocket lice and Ziess15x56 for long stuff

Thanks, Steve. Super helpful.
