Steel shot wasn't invented yet when these guns were made.

Correct. They made a heavy duck version around 1935-1936 that was a 3" magnum. You could get it with a plain or solid ribbed barrel. It was heavier in weight in the stock I believe. I was curious if this shotgun was the heavy duck version
