I have been working on an elk load for my 300 Win Mag. I have chosen to shoot either a Nosler Accubond or Barnes TTSX, both in 180 grain. I have worked with H-1000, but even a compressed load gets me to the low 2900 fps range. I have been thinking of trying RL-19, but havent found powder Min-Max amounts yet. Does anyone have those powder numbers or another powder I could try to get over 3000fps? Thanks for any help. I appreciate it.

How long is your barrel and what COAL?

I am pushing the Berger 190 VLD with H4831 SC (old load) @ 3043 FPS out of 23.5" barrel. Ad with anything else, YMMV.

Assuming a 24" barrel. In addition to the chart below, Ramshot magnum might also get you there but it would be a max load

Sorry about that. I should have included this info. Barrel length is 24" with 1:10 twist. COAL is 3.335", due to a restriction of the magazine length. I am shooting a Tikka T3x Lite Veil. Thanks guys.

What other powders do you have or can readily acquire? If you have RL-17, give that a try. I am propelling 215 Bergers out of my 300 WSM 24" at 2850 FPS.

RL26 is the easy button, it will drive a 180 well over 3000, I loaded 212 ELD-X into the mid 2900's with it loading VERY long, don't remember exactly but around 3.600". H4831SC will be tough to get over 3000 in your barrel and short load length but it shoots great and is so consistent it's silly. I like that over another 50-100 fps.

Are you using magnum LR primers or regular LR primers?
I'm getting over 3000fps with 180 Interlocks and 78gr of H1000 in a M77 MkII, but I am using CCI Magnum LR primers. Regular LR primers tend to give me 30 to 50fps less.

why are you trying to push to go so fast ? i would much rather slow it down and find an accurate node that i could trust to hit where i want it to. my experience is to find the best group you can get and adjust everything else from there. aim small miss small.
