Have the wait times come down on trust submissions? If you do the single shot trust with silencer co can you add individuals later?

I'm not familiar with the single shot trust approval time but my son did an individual application in July and still took 3-4 weeks.
He's a member my NFA Gun trust but he was afraid it would take too long for approval thru the trust and miss this hunting season.

In the last two months I have picked up 3 suppressors. First one took 1 month, second took 2 days, third took 2 weeks (including weekends and Thanksgiving holiday). All three were with Silencer Shop single shot trust.

I was told; currently the only reason for a longer than one month delay is due to a couple possibilities: first applicant has been arrested previously and required a closer look. Second, applicant has a fairly common name that is synonymous with a felon in that state or area.

Additionally you must consider the vast increase in applications flowing in now. Long story short: you should be able to take your suppressor home in about a month or less. Most likely much less.

No one has answered the OP's second question, "can you add individuals later?" I'm curious also, as I'm wanting to add my son to my single shot trust.

Yes: you can add people to the single shot trust at any point. They need only fill out a profile similar to the applicant. Need to get picture, fingerprinted, and all required info. The nice thing about single shot trusts is that you can add people to specific trusts and not just a general trust that has access to everything.

According to my lawyer, who did my nfa trust, the adding people later has never been challenged by the government. That means no legal precident has been set on it. When they start realizing that people are getting nfa stuff without any form of background check simply by being added to a trust, you can about bet that they will do something about it. If you add the people to the trust right away, and get them through the process there is no legal challenge for that. Also, if you add people to an existing trust, you can then go buy another item and get everyome through the process again and know that you will never have to worry about it being challenged in court. Yea, the adding people later thing works for now, but look at what they did with bumpstocks, pistol braces and the like. If you want to wonder, go right ahead.

I have bought four suppressors since June, 2024 all using the Silencer Shop Single Shot Trust. The first one was submitted on June 21 and approved on August 25th. The next two were submitted on 8/28 and approved on 9/15. The last one was submitted on 10/01 and approved on 10/3…..in two days.
