I'm trying to decide: Tikka T3x Superlite (300 WSM) w/ a KRG Bravo chassis vs Bergara Premier HMR Pro (300 PRC) w/ a KRG Bravo chassis. It'll be used for high elevation elk hunting (I have a 2nd season rifle for elk in CO this fall) and probably for all of my future backpacking hunts (mainly elk and black bear but moose as well).

I'll be using a muzzle brake on it. Bergara comes with a threaded barrel. I'm assuming a gunsmith will be around $100 to thread the barrel on a Tikka? If so, I'll probably be saving $250 on the Tikka setup compared to the premier hmr pro which is nice but not a big deal.

Bergara is listed at 9.8 lbs and I've read that the stock is 4 lbs. Bravo is 3.1 lbs so I'll get that down to 8.9 lbs, not including scope base, bipod, scope rings and scope.

Tikka is 6.2 lbs and i've read the stock is 28 oz so with the Bravo it'll be 7.5 lbs, not including scope base, bipod, scope rings and scope.

I like the 300 WSM but i like using heavy-for-caliber bullets even more. The Tikka's twist rate is only 1:10 - even at high elevations I need at least 1:9 for high BC bullets. And the tikka's barreled action wouldn't allow 212 gr Barnes anyways.

The 300 PRC is a great cartridge and solves these issues with the Bergara's 1:9 twist. And the Bergara comes with a great trigger (trigger tech).

I've seen a few posts on this but they're comparing the Tikka to Bergara's B14 HMR, which is not nearly as good as the premier hmr pro. I know the 1.5 lbs different is big selling factor for the Tikka but are there any other reasons to go with the 300 WSM over the 300 PRC?

Edit: Oh and I would use lapua brass for 300 PRC whereas lapua brass is not yet available as far as i can tell for 300 WSM.
