Tikka T3/X Lite Fans / Share what likes what

To all Tikka guys and gals out there, I figure we could share what calibers like what loads or any other things about these fine Finnish products. I had the chance to work there for a while and still have lifelong friends there and found that whatever it is they want to be good at, they are crazy good at it. Specs are shown below.

My T3 in 300WSM seems to prefer 180gn+ class bullets over 165gn. I saw a review which said this might makes sense based on twist rate.

My T3 in 270WSM loves tipped monos in 130gn weight, 61.0gn IMR4350 OAL = 2.850".

My T3 in .308 seems to prefer 150gn loads of any sort and shoots them well, but it takes a bit to dial in my 165gn loads to the same accuracy.

My T3 in 338WM (6-3/8 lb stock) has only been tested with 210gn class bullets, but I have easily dialed in Barnes Tipped TSX and Swift Scirocco loads that are tremendous on the range. I can't wait to break in this elk virgin. cheers

I've had good luck with most loads in my t3 270wsm. the best i got out of it was 1.25" groups at 400 yards. it averaged .75moa with most tuned loads but obviously did better with a 150 nosler ballistic tip being pushed by 60gr of imr7828. i found greater precision with more jump to the lands. loading close to the lands meant having a single shot and did not produce smaller groups for me. prior to finding that out i had considered filing down the bolt stop and using a long action magazine.

i like tikka and have had a few. all have shot well. they are the primary reason i just picked up a fierce fury.

Likes anything I can feed with sub .5moa groups with most bullets

The trick in this caliber is to seat the bullet as far as you can without it falling out(the Swede is a long action) and the throat seems to be very long

Just picked up a Tikka T3x in .300 Win Mag. I have a Vortex Viber HST 6x24x50 on it. I can't wait to give it a whirl. I'll be taking it Spring Bear hunting in a cupla weeks.

What did your OAL end up for the jumped 270WSM load?

A few years ago I bought my wife a Tikka T3 stainless in .338 Federal. She loves it and has taken deer and elk with it. Great all around rifle. It will shoot Barnes 160 gr. to 3000fps if I load it up, which I don't do because 2900 works fine and is easily achieved with around 50gr. of 8208. Her big animal load is 180 gr. Accubond with the same powder and it is deadly accurate. When I bought the rifle I purchased .308 Lapua brass and necked it up because I like Lapua brass better than what was being offered at the time. It's an easy conversion. I took it to 8 mm first and then to .338. She hasn't picked up another rifle since.

Super light for such a beast! I think that they may have improved upon the T3 recoil pad, for the T3X. I had to replace all of my magnum pads with the Limbsaver but they are all now a pleasure to shoot. Please let us know how your first shoot goes.

I got a T3 Varmint in 6.5x55 (oh yes! Old school and cheaper ammo). Im actually using mainly factory Lapua 139gr Match ammo (comes in 100pc boxes). I can do 1/2 MOA @100 and Im a pretty amateur shooter.... cant complain!!

I had a hard choice on what rifle caliber to get my wife last year she got to get a feel for different guns and I gave her my card and told her to get what she liked the best I came home to her getting a stainless t3x lite and that little gun doesn't like match ammo at all the best group we have got is with federal non typical 140gr

just picked up a Tikka T3x superlite in 6.5 CM - do you remember what it likes?

140 gr Berger VLD hunting, 41.4 gr hodgens H4350, CCI 250 primers hornady brass. Loaded to 2.175 to the ogive. Is what mine likes. This is not a hot load but still Use caution and work up to it.

It also loves hornady precision hunter 143 eldx. Really it has shot well with every load I tried well under 1 inch.

tikka being made by sako is an excellant rifle and very accurate ! i have a tikka t3 in .223 and its a tack driver !
