This load sound ok? Safe? 7mag/162 amax and 7828

Yeah I kind of expected it to blow up. I think the 3/8" limb in the way didn't help much

I'm pretty happy with the load even though I don't have a velocity yet. I'm gunna start playing with the Bergers next.

You got lucky he even got hit good enough to die if you hit a limb. That's a luck-shot.

I never shoot through brush anymore, if I don't have to. I prefer the nice open-field shots.

Yeah not many open fields here in my area. I didn't realize the limb was there until after the shot. This stand is a place I normally bow hunt but do have some 200-300 yards shots

I am extremely happy with my MagnetoSpeed V2. If I had a private range I could go to and shoot and stop whenever I wanted to, I would have no problems with getting a chrono with a stand. But since the MSv2 is nice and I can deploy and remove it from my bench while the range is still hot, it works best for me.

I'm hoping sooner or later to have my own private range. I found some land I like that should provide me with enough room to atleast shoot at 100 yards for load development.

At 27 yards on a 108lb white tail I didn't get an exit. I don't have a velocity yet tho.

I have very limited hunting experience with the A-Max but very positive on soft skinned game ...

Here's my only personal experiences hunting with A-max ...

1. Shot an antelope at the boiler area at 338 yards with .178gr off my .300 WM - had pencil size entry and exit but the internals are all souped up. DRT!

2. Shot a coyote at the boiler area @ ~200 yards with .178gr off my .300 WM- the only thing holding it together was the underbelly fur/skin. Almost cut it half - yikes!

3. Shot a WT doe at the boiler area @ 150 yards with .208gr off my .300 WM- pencil size entry and ~ 3 inch exit hole/2 ribs broken and internals souped up. DRT!

The more I think about it the more I want the oehler chrono. The magneto speed is cool but I use my chrono for archery and handgun stuff.

I'm not really afraid of the amaxes at range. But @ 27 yards the results were not ideal. Now I know a gun shooting an amax really isn't something that would normally be used for hunting that close anyway but it was a last minute decision on my part. If I would have planned it I wouldn't have even taken a rifle as I want to kill a deer with my bow. This deer just happened up in the wrong spot at the wrong time.

Luckily places to shoot are not a problem for me. I have a range at my parents place to shoot to 200 safely and a place I own and hunt to 600 safely and a buddies place to a mile

My Dad shot a nice 6 point this past rifle season weighing around 180lbs at 15yds with his .30-06 pushing 168gr A-MAXs at 2900fps. He hit the deer square in the chest and it instantly dropped to its feet. After field dressing it, we found that the bullet passed into the chest cavity with a quarter sized entrance and blew up right in the middle of the boiler room. I know some guys don't like them and disapprove of them, but we have had excellent results using them in a pair of .308s and my Dad's '06. Kills were made out to 600yds on deer and groundhogs, all kills were DRT. At farther ranges, they went in, blew up and left 2"-3" exits. Seems like they do the job and dump all of their energy inside the animal leading to a quick, clean, instant kill! gun)

My 7mag sendero load is 70gr 7828ssc cci250
168vld .075" jump.
3080fps at 420' elevation.

Got a complete pass through at 250 yards and a perfect expansion on one buck at 200 yards

This is what the bullet looked like. I only found the jacket, no lead.
