It makes sense. It is kind of interesting that a liberal leaning magazine would publish the article. On another note, it brings up another possible conspiracy which is that Olin and Vista are behind the Biden administration banning of ammunition from Russia, which appears to have never occurred or no one is talking about it. It would further their monopoly of the market and increase their control of prices.

Consolidations/mergers are a major driving force of inflation. Fewer producers/suppliers equals more market control in fewer hands. It's happened in the ammunition industry and it's happened(ing) across the entire economy as we have removed anti-monopoly regulations over the years. The scheisters doing the work on behalf of the mega corporations like to label them "Job killing regulations" and insist that the free market will fix everything. It doesn't. But most people in this country aren't smart enough to know better.

Can't argue about what the financial machinations were and how the industry wide consolidation was done. It's all public record if you know where to look.

Nobody who can see what has happened (and isn't personally making big bank!) believes that present conditions are in the shooting public OR our national defense's best interests.

The article leaves out a few pertinent things such as what Cerberus Capital Management (which did the lion's share of the USA ammunition industry consolidation, now parked under Vista) is.

"We try to hide religiously," Feinberg once told investors. "If anyone at Cerberus has his picture in the paper and a picture of his apartment, we will do more than fire that person. We will kill him. The jail sentence will be worth it."
