The new Franchi Momentum is darn near an exact copy to the Ruger American.

To wit:

1. Both have cold hammer forged barrels
2. Both have 3 lug bolts with the lugs integral with the rest of the bolt body
3. Both have V block bedding blocks (But Ruger's are Y blocks for pillar bedding the action bolts.)
4. Both have NO bolt lock when on safety. Dumb!
5. Both have polymer stocks.

Franchi uses the old style magazine of leaf spring and floor plate.I feel Ruger's (cheap) plastic magazines are more user friendly.

Now for the kicker. Franchi is so proud of their Ruger American knockoff that they want $609. for it.
Ruger American street prices are around $400. And Rugers are likely more accurate on average.

Jus' sayin'...

On the bright side, Franchi gives you a threaded barrel, a 2-4 lb trigger (vs. Ruger's 3-5 lb), and recessed swivel attachments.

Then stick to your brownings and m70s buddy.

Yeah, Hunter, for a hundred dollars more than the Franchi one can get a plain Jane 6.5 CM Browning X-Bolt, a much better rifle. (Well, IMHO, that is.)

I wrote this post B/C I felt Franchi was overcharging for what was essentially another Ruger American.
I had a 6.5 CM Predator which was consistently shooting 1.2 MOA with 140 gr. Hornady ELD-M factory ammo. Just could not stand having the non-locking bolt flop open when grabbed by brush when I was hunting. Lost 2 cartridges that way.
