The 27 Nosler, it's official!

I just left the Nosler website and they have officially launched the 27 Nosler. There are 2 factory loads available so far, one is 150gr. Accubond(TG) and the other is 165 ABLR. They are also offering 2 rifles chambered in the new caliber, the M48 Mountain Carbon and the Long Range Carbon. From what is posted on their website, the new caliber outperforms the obvious 270 Win, the 270WSM and the 270WBY by some significant margins! I realize there are many who are not fans of the .277 caliber, but I am and have harvested a lot of game with my 270Win. I'm pretty sure this newest offering from Nosler has peaked my interest enough that I will in the near future purchase and or build a rifle in this caliber.

.277 are finally getting some good bullets for lr. I wonder if the 27 nosler is the next 7rum? Waaaay too much powder for the bullet???

So far the 28 is the only one that got good traction. The others are still alive but not by much. I guess time will tell on this one.

I was surprised the 30 didn't become more popular. I like it much more than the prc, but it's just me. 30-28nosler sure is popular

While I am not a fan (at the moment), I am glad for having another option to choose from and Nosler's innovation. Despite their best intentions, there will always peeps that will categorize this as a "fad" or a "hype", stir, stir, stir.

The only problem for the 30 was the 300 Winchester. Very popular. Look at the 280 Remington. Better than a 270 in my eyes but it never caught on.

Anything resembling a bigger wsm with that 35deg shoulder gets my blood pumpin' . I think I've heard of the 280 improved though

I think the 280 & the 280AI have started to surge a bit more lately, there are a lot more rifles being offered in both now than before as well as factory ammunition offerings.

I got in an argument on here last night. Thinking about it now I should have just left it alone. Have you ever taken the same case and tested say a 25. then 30, then 35 and then 40 degree for performance?

Don't have the reamers for the same parent with all those, so no. Like to see results though. 35deg seem to have a great track record

We had a smith here. He has passed now but he developed a 6-06 wildcat. Reamers were cheap then and he maintained that when he got to 28 degrees his accuracy improved so he settled on 30 degrees for everything. That was back in the 60,s

It is still fairly new and the potential is still there.
