Such thing as a scope too closer to a barrel?

Went with the Talley low rings and have about a thick paper's width between the scope and barrel when everything is tightened down. Too close?

I usually like 1/8" or a bit more. Hunting frequently in cold, wet climes, ice can bridge between the barrel and scope if the clearance is too close, and hard to clear. Also provides for enough room for scope covers.

Same here! This is on 50 BMG but it's one of the best video on scope and mount flex I have seen...

I had mine close on a very heavy barreled 300wm. When I took the scope off you could see where the vibrations of the barrel was hitting the bottom of the scope.

It might jeopardize your warranty!

I can slide it forward and gain some more clearance. Possibly close to a quarters width. I'll try it and get back to you guys soon

I was able to slide the scope forward about 3/8" and I ended up with approx .060" of clearance. For a comparison, a nickel thickness is .077"
