I'll be in SD for a couple of days this september and found a lot of info here https://gfp.sd.gov/landowner-programs/ and was wondering if any of you SD hunters can help me clarify the Land Owner Habitat Program and permissions to hunt these lands. Is it required that the hunter get permission from the land owner or is it as it says just walk in and make a stand? I know there are Corp of Engineers food plot lands and other programs of leased farm land. Are these lands marked on a map or coordinice info available. Thanks in advance.

Edit: Found good starting info here https://gfp.sd.gov/hunting-areas/

Anyone guide. Thanks

I believe the controlled hunting access program is the only one you have to get permission for. Otherwise it's just walk in.

I don't know if you can hunt public land in SD as a non resident until October 1 for coyotes. I know you can't for deer on public until October 1.
